Questions & Answers?
- Your driving licence?
You will need to have received your driving licence before you can start learning to drive or apply for your theory test. If you need an application form D1 and a form D750, both available at the Post Office. Send them completed with two passport-sized photos to the DVLA Swansea with some form of acceptable ID (like a passport) and the current fee. Remember you must show me your licence at the start of your first of lesson.
How many lessons will I need? It is difficult to tell initially how many lessons you may need. The driving tests now are more demanding than ever and a high degree of skill is needed to pass the test. If you were to ask many of the larger and national driving schools then a recommended amount would be approximately 30-40 hours tuition for a 17 yr. old pupil, (some schools will even try to sell you a 20 hour course). Some people learn much more quickly and some people take more time and lessons to reach an acceptable standard. After a few lessons I should be able to give you a fair indication, this will depend on how easily you pick up the skills necessary to learn "Safe Driving for Life". The DSA. recommends a minimum of 30 hours, but this is not always the case. But remember there is no substitute for experience & this comes with time & practice. We are all individuals, we all learn at different rates.
How will I know when I'm ready for test? You will know. I will help you to become self-critical, and recognise any faults you have. I will also explain the set exercises sufficiently for you to know what is required and show you how to monitor them. Discussion concerning test timing is welcomed. I will be teaching you to drive, not just allowing you to learn test routes off by heart. Your training should include a mock driving test in the latter stages, to confirm your strengths and weaknesses. You should feel secure with your skills. No-one wants to "string you along" but it is important when settling upon going for test to be honest with yourself about your readiness. If you are unprepared the test will show this up, and you may fail.
So how do you get your FULL driving licence? You need to pass a theory, hazard perception and practical driving test before your full licence will be issued It's important to study and learn all the relevant information, not just to pass the theory test, but to become a safe and confident driver for life.

Sunglasses are good, Comfortable clothes are better, (wear layers) Soft rather than hard shoes will help you to have better control, it is important that you are comfy when driving, Remember it is not a fashion statement.
